A non-profit organization dedicated to supporting and empowering the brain injury community in Rhode Island.
Synapse aims to provide social support for individuals with all types of brain injuries and to educate, equip, and inspire the next generation of leaders in the brain injury community. By connecting with others and encouraging conversation, we are dedicated to building a powerful support network for individuals with brain injuries, raising awareness, and ultimately promoting healing and growth. Synapse is guided by three core values: community, compassion and education.
Brown's chapter of Synapse is one of more than 20 chapters at college campuses across the United States. Join us as we cultivate a powerful community and a network of leaders and advocates for individuals with brain injuries!
Programs
We offer three main programs both on campus and via Zoom.
Peer Support Groups
These bi-weekly meetings bring together members from the brain injury community and provide a safe space to share experiences and discuss resources while forging meaningful connections.
Buddy Program
This program pairs together Brown University students with members of the brain injury community, fostering personal 1-on-1 connections and combating the emotional isolation that individuals with brain injury often face.
Educational Events
We host educational events centered on brain injury, hosting guest speakers such as PM&R doctors and neuroscience researchers. These talks aim to share the latest advances in brain injury and raise awareness.

Meet the Executive Board
We are passionate about helping the brain injury community and coordinate all aspects of Synapse on campus. We hope that you'll consider joining our organization! If you're interested in joining, attend one of our information sessions or reach out to the club via email.
Upcoming Events
If you're interested in learning more about our club, come to an information session. Our peer support group meetings are the bread and butter of our organization and the best way to get started with Synapse; get into contact with a member of the executive board for additional help getting involved. Anyone is welcome to come to our educational events, but please RSVP via the link that is attached on the calendar event. This calendar is updated often, so check back frequently!
